According to Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) is responsible for guaranteeing transparent elections, but in order to do so, all its members must be trustworthy in the eyes of all parties. "There has not always been full confidence in the members of the JCE" said Lopez when asked about the current members of the board. The Archbishop of Santo Domingo considers the displacement of voters from electoral rosters is "serious" and stated that it is fundamental that each person appears on the list he/she belongs on. The leader of the Roman Catholic Church said that he would be concerned if the accusations turn out to be true, as the JCE has the obligation of offering all guarantees to the nation that the elections will be clean and transparent.
