The two issues of greatest concern to Dominicans are corruption and unemployment, according to the April poll carried out by Penn, Schoen & Berland. 21% of Dominicans feel that these two are the most pressing problems, up from 14% and 13% respectively when the same question was asked in 1992. Other problems of concern to Dominicans and their percentage in 1992 are: drugs 19% (15%), violence and crime 13% (3%), lack of electricity 8% (7%), inflation 6% (16%), hunger 5% (6%), lack of education 3% (2%), low wages 2% (2%), lack of health care 1% (2%).
