The Central Electoral Board (JCE) has begun sending out the material needed for next week's elections. The JCE supplied the material to the 972 voting stations in Santo Domingo East, Boca Chica and Guerra. Meanwhile, a delegation of OAS observers visited the election board mailing offices to learn all about the process. The head of logistics, Higinio Nunez, told reporters from Listin Diario that his people were preparing the 12,371 ballot boxes needed for the polling stations. The preparations were being carried out under strict military and civilian supervision, with observers from all the political parties taking part. According to Gilberto Cruz Herasme, the JCE elections director, the National District and its 2,000 polling stations will be the first to receive the material. Up for grabs are 1,412 very coveted posts, including 32 Senatorial seats, 178 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, 151 Mayor jobs and 151 vice-Mayor jobs plus 900 seats on the City Councils.
