A youth pastor in Warren is under arrest-- accused of internet sex crimes. Police say the pastor tried to entice a fifteen-year-old girl to have sex.
They arrested Joseph Stephens Friday. Stephens was the youth pastor at the First United Methodist Church until Saturday when the church voted to fire him.
Senior Pastor Siegfried Johnson had just returned from a trip to Israel late last week when he got a phone call Friday. 'The chief of police called me and asked that I meet him here. They came with a search and seizure warrant and searched the office next to mine-- that of Mr. Joe Stephens-- the Music and Family Pastor. So they took all the computer equipment.'
Stephens is accused of inappropriately communicating with a fifteen-year-old church member via internet and instant messaging. He faces two felony counts; one of attempting to entice a minor to have sex; another of using a computer to arrange a meeting with a minor for sex."
