In my opinion after spending a great deal of time in Los Charamicos and Santiago, evey restaurant in El Batey is pricey for the DR.

This is true, but then again, we are in the main tourist attracting town in the country, along with Cabarete.

Myself and companions had breakfast here one day. I was not impressed. I wasn't too hungry, so I just had some fruit... it was really really bad. I couldn't believe I was in the caribbean, since the fruit was so terrible. Pina Colada was WACK. It supposedly had alcohol, but I couldn't taste it. My friends weren't enthused about their food either. Service was slow. Very NICE looking environment however. Also, because our food came late, we were offered complimentary drinks, which was a nice gesture.

I have found the food at Mora Mai average. And since they changed to dollars very pricey (for DR). I usually eat at Rocky's for breakfast. And being able to check my email while I wait for my food is a plus.

You are right about the fruit. Nowhere has a big fruit select. I used to live in Brazil and the variety of fruit was amazing. In Sosua watermelon, oranges, pineapple and banana is about it.

You're dead on with that, I eat in los Charmicos, in my opinion the food is twice as good for 1/2 (or less) what you'd pay in el batey. Maria's in los Charmicos is my favorite spot.

Where is Maria's? This past trip I jumped on a moto and asked him if he knew where El Central was in Los Charamicos, he looked at me and said are you sure you want to go there and tried pointing me to Mora Mai's. I was laughing and said no I wanted El Central. Replied that I was crazy, it was totally safe as usual.

if you tell any moto maria's in los charmicos theyll know where it is.. it's my favorite place in the north coast to eat and prices are great.. its on the 2nd street into los charmicos that runs parallel to the main highway.. when you turn into los charmicos right after the beach you go straight one block and then left.. I've never had a problem in los charmicos, even in the middle of the night.. the worst they can offer can't compete with the bronx

I think I passed by their before. Does the place have a green color inside, sort of like a luncheonette styled place. I know the food was cheap in there. The woman that owns is was sweet. Everyone seems to like know her.

I like their food. But, yes...they're expensive. Keep in mind, I have not ever, ever gotten sick eating there. That might be worth the overpayment. Can't say the same about that death joint across the street. PJ is it?

No shit. $40us is alot in the DR for 1 to eat. I will definately fix the Palace BBQ when i get there. $40us will through a decent BBQ for many before the Patriots game. Will stop in at Morua Mai and check out menu and have a drink. Was told El Toro was a decent place to get a half decent steak for a reasonable price. Then again $3 chicken sounds good and never got sick off of it.

Mora Mai has good food. I only ate breakfast there about 5 times, but I enjoyed their omlets. PJs is a dive, but I enjoyed their chicken sandwich late at night. In general, I found the food in Sosua to be pretty good. I also had some good seafood on the beach.

The one thing I have not been impressed with is Dominican pizza - being orginally from Manhattan I guess I'm spoiled. However, Dominican pizza is 1,000 times better than what they call pizza in Santiago de Cuba.

I ate at Mora twice. Seafood platter is very good. Sea bass filet in white sauce also very good. .I had a whole lobster lunch at Waterfront down by the coral grotto beach. It was excellent. Nice restaurant. Pricey, but it was lobster. Mora took that 10% off the bill when you are a Palace guest. Not bad.
