According to United States Ambassador Hans Hertell, he is confident there is no type of irregularity being planned for the May 16 mid-term elections. He says he does not perceive any will to compromise the process although he admitted that there are situations that need to be resolved. Hertell announced he would visit the Central Electoral Board (JCE) within the next few days, as reported by Diario Libre.
Listin Diario reports that the diplomat said that the Dominican Republic has shown maturity and development in electoral issues in the recent past. Hertell was speaking at the PUCMM where he attended the signing of a "Civility Pact" between the leaders of the political parties.
