The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is to donate US$1.0 million to the Dominican Exporters Association. The money will be used to strengthen Dominican farm exports on the one hand, and to provide expert technical assistance that will allow exporters to overcome trade barriers and other obstacles. According to Kai Schoenhals, the executive vice-president of ADOEXPO, the project is targeting the micro, small and medium farm producers who can provide crops for export. The project will include 30% counterpart funding from the ADOEXPO association. According to an article in Hoy, the initial documents have already been signed, and the program is due to start up in June or July of this year.
