The Internal Revenue Department (DGII) collected RD$35 billion in the first four months of the year. According to government statistics, the DGII collected RD$25 billion in the first quarter of the year and an additional RD$10.215 billion in April. This is a 20.1% increase on the same period of a year ago. The DGII received RD$13.027 billion in income taxes, and RD$7.304 billion in VAT. The rest of the money came from luxury taxes on tobacco and alcohol, selective taxes on some services, such as bank transfers and telecommunication services, and "other taxes".
