The Dominican Constitution prohibits military and police personnel from voting in elections. According to Listin Diario, there are more than a dozen military and police personnel listed as entitled to vote in the upcoming elections. This anomaly was detected in the National District. Sources within the political sphere admit that there are hundreds of officers and enlisted men and women on the voting rolls. Article 88, paragraph 2 of the Constitution states that active police and military personnel are not allowed to vote. When Listin Diario reporters decided to check out the story, it was found that at least five of the 16 cases that had come to light were listed as having their voting privileges intact. Listin Diario publishes five photographs of uniformed members of the armed forces and the National Police who were described as "able to vote" on the voting lists.
