President Leonel Fernandez granted the order of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella in the rank of Knight to Verizon president in the DR, Jorge Ivan Ramirez. Verizon recently was sold to Telmex of Mexico. The honor was granted for high merit.
Decree 208-066 establishes that the award is being given to Jorge Ivan Ramirez for his commitment to the Dominican people, and his contributions to the social, cultural and sporting advancements in the country, in addition to developments in telecommunication fields. Ramirez has led the company for five years. During this time he was also president of the American Chamber of Commerce, Association of Foreign Companies (Asiex), and served on the board of the National Business Council.
