Today's Hoy newspaper editorialist highlights that real solutions to the electricity crisis that affects Dominicans will only be found if politics are put aside. He shares the general perception of all Dominicans that it is hard to understand how the service can reach such poor levels when it is so strategically important. The editorialist says that the present abusive solution of making those who pay for the service regularly pay a premium for those who do not pay cannot continue.
In the same edition, Hoy newspaper includes an interview with industrialist Cesar Nicolas Penson who highlights that if the government does not resolve the problems of the reliability, quality and high cost of electricity service, the country will not be able to take advantage of the trade agreements it has signed.
