A commission of Organization of American States (OAS) observers traveled to Pedernales yesterday with the purpose of investigating the complaints about dislocated voters reported by civic group Participacion Ciudadana, according to Diario Libre. No serious irregularities were found yesterday in the organization of the elections, according to mission chief Ruben Perina.
According to El Caribe, Perina said that they have found everything to be normal in terms of technical, logistical and organizational aspects. Perina spoke to the press after participating in a meeting called by Participacion Ciudadana with the ambassadors of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, the director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) together with the OAS mission of observers.
