Hello all,
I知 thinking of planning a trip to Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata/Sosua areas for the
first time. It seems that weather-wise December through March is the best time
to go. I was wondering, when is it better to go for the selection of girls? Should
I be aware of slow times or when monger/girl ration is bad? Also, will it be much more difficult for me as a newbie, who does not speak Spanish, in Santo Domingo vs. Sosua/Puerto Plata?
Thank you all so much in advance.

Hello pdaddy
Based on my experience, Christmas Day and Easter were bad days to monger because many of the girls are spending time with their families.
However, a few days before Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day and Father's Day are very good days because the girls need money fast to buy something for their family.
Also, girls move from casa to casa and city to city so often that it is hard to pin-point when is it better to visit and check out the selection of girls.
In Santo Domingo, weather-wise, December through March is very good. At night, it is cool with a nice breeze. June, July, and August are too hot and humid.
I just came back from Santo Domingo last week and it was so quiet. In September, it rains often in the DR but that will not stop us from mongering right?
During December, airfares are quite expensive. So if you plan to visit during December, then book well in advance.
If you are a baseball fan, then you will see many baseball players such as Albert Pujols, Sammy Sosa, Julio Lugo, Ronnie Belliard, etc. wander around the capital city. You can also go to a local baseball game and see some of your favorite ball players such as Miguel Tajeda.
If you want to have a great time in Santo Domingo, then you need to know a decent amount of Spanish.
I hope this helps.

You won't have weather problems that time of year.
Like Cheeno said, avoid X-Mas and Easter. Any other time there will be plenty of shweet punani around.
Start picking up basic Spanish phrases now. It will help you avoid frustration. Practice with your travelling companions every chance you get. listen to salsa and watch Spanish channels on television every chance you get. After a while you'll start picking up pronunciation. There are many words in English which share spelling with Spanish words but are pronounced differently. Start out by identifying these words and adapting the Spanish pronunciation and you will quickly develop a working vocabulary.
On your first trip stick to the casas until you get a feel for the place. Read Cheeno's recent report on each. Good stuff there. There is always someone working in these places who speaks English and many of the Chicas do speak in a limited vocabulary. If you can speak a little Spanglish and meet them in the middle they'll often surprise you. An electronic translator isn't a bad idea. Get a cheap one and if you find an exceptional GFE, gift it to her. You'll get crazy points for the smallest of considerations. They've also got us graded on a "point" system and the puta network is faster than the speed of light.
Don't overthink or overplan this. Just go and enjoy. We eagerly await you first D.R. trip report....there's just something about that place that can't be quantified.

There is really no slow time for finding chicas. If u are going alone(no wingman) and u dont speak spanish, i highly recomment u not going to Santo Domingo. You will be totally lost there. Sosua is the place for you, or even Blackbeards. I am also planning a trip in either decembr or january. No more hot may trips to the DR for me. ONly winter trips.
Pros and cons on when u should go to the DR(my opinions, others may vary)
Going to Dr from april to sept.
Pros,
1/cheaper airfare,
2/more chicas to gringo ratios,
3/cheaper hotel rates
Cons,
1/rainy season, hurricane season
2/ hot as hell,
3/ prices are just as high for a chica(if not higher) due to not many gringos in town and the chicas try to get that one big score.
4/ Less tourists in town seems to bring the atmosphere down as well(IMHO)
5/ not many poker players at the casino lol
Going to the DR from October to March
Pros
1/Much nicer weather. Even i dont sweat at nightime like i did when i went last time in May
2/Much more gringos in town to shoot the shit with and to play poker with at the casino( a dead casino bores me but if there is people there, i enjoy my time there)
3/Ive havent really experienced or heard of prices for chicas rising or falling during tourists and non tourists seasons. Its the same negotiated flat rate all year round. If anything, U can negotiate a better price during the winter months due to the large influx of tourists in the DR. Many of these chicas have the attitude of fucking u and going back to a crowded bar to make more money. If there isnt many toursits there, they now instead have the attitude of gouging u for every penny as they know there isnt many gringos left at the bar.
4/ what better time to go on vacation, then when it is 32 farenhiet in your own country?
Cons
1/ You probably will pay an extra $50 or more for your airfare
2/ You probably will also pay an extra $50-$100 for your hotel if u stay for a weeks time.
3/ A lot of bad mouth screaming loud fuckers there during this time.(just avoid them)
Again, just my summary, others will agree or disagree, to each his own.

Hello all,
I’m thinking of planning a trip to Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata/Sosua areas for the
first time. It seems that weather-wise December through March is the best time

My Dude,
My advice to you is to read as many posts as you can. Based on the valuable intelligence that you will receive (from doing so), make a well-inform decision about where you want to go.
I was in your shoes almost a year ago. However, based on many of Cheeno's detailed/informative posts, I decided to go against conventional wisdom and begin my monger conquests in The Capital (Santo Domingo.) Keep in mind, I only speak limited spanish, was travelling by myself and visiting this country for the very first time (and it turned out to be a great choice for me!)
I must give "props" and attribute my feelings of at-ease, comfortability and the ability to cope in unfamiliar territory, with the fact that I spent extensive time utilizing this forum (which definitely provided me with invaluable knowledge, wisdom and understanding.) I still marvel at the thought that I was more comfortable in a foreign country than if I was in per se Brooklyn (Wow, I live here in NY.:) ) For the record, I am scheduled to make my third trip (in less than a year) to Santo Domingo in 12 days (yeah baby!):corky: However, I am going to visit Sosua (for two days) just to see if it's better than or comparable to The Capital.
That said, do your homework! Use this forum to the best of your ability and you should be just fine. By doing this, I can personally assure you that you will be better equipped to identify the good, the bad and the ugly. I would encourage you (when you have a specific question and only after exhausting the various search options based on the board) to reach out to "pros" like Cheeno, EastCoast, BrothaLove, etc. who are usually more than happy to assist you.
The Man Man
Kudos to the aforementioned guys and others (who are just like them) who "hold us down" by providing great information and insight! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term "hold us down" it means to have one's back.

Going on Vacation by Jimmydr!
It was a lazy afternoon in August in my office when I saw a sweet $350 RT special to Dr. Well I got the week off and went. It was a very good week in deed. Unplanned like many of my trips.
The best time to go is when the price is just right!

I agree with Jimmy. The best time to go is when the flights are cheap. More cash for the pussy.
I never really planned a date. If I see a flight under 400 bucks I book. Never had a problem finding chicas. Worse case scenario go to lapassions and you can have fun there as well.

From purely a weather standpoint the best time to go is from early October to mid December. January to February can be a little too cool. I suppose March is okay, but I typically don't get back until April which can be pretty hot. This persists until mid August and then you're subject to get a lot of rain until October. My favorite time is late November.

I've been down during the King holiday week for the past couple years and mid January has probably been the best time for stable weather. The temp will occasionally drop down to 70f in the evenings but I've never worn anything more than sweats. The good thing is there's less chance for rain that time of year and the days are still warm enough for the beach.
Another great thing about that time of year is Liga de Beisbol Profesional playoffs. Everyone should try to catch a game or two. Going to a baseball game there is another "only in the D.R." type of experience.

I wanted to say big thank you to all who posted here. With that information, I have decided to exclude Santo Domingo from this trip and will visit just Sosua/Puerto Plata in late November. I now only have somewhat unusual hotel question which I posted here: http://news.insearchofchicas.org/forum/showthread.php?t=136848
If you guys might know anything about it, could you let me know?
Many Thanks!

With the exception of Fidel Castro going up and down the street in his truck and yelling some advertsing, over a PA system, then id say that Club Residecial was pretty quiet. Its not as laid back and as monger freindly however as places like Seabreeze and Ng are.
I really dont know of a place/hotel that would be %100 quiet without any noise problems. You just got to find the best of the worst :(

Just bring foam ear plugs with you to cut out the evening noise. I purchase the 32 decibel kind and have no problems sleeping through the night.
in the heart of town there isnt any place 100 ruckus free! unless you start staying at villas/Condos ;)
I would also agree that around Oct-Jan is perfect weather down there!
