Some 20,000 students have taken courses at the Instituto Tecnologico de las Americas over the past six years, at a cost to the state of RD$25 billion. The institute, which focuses primarily on Information Technology training, offers a wide range of scholarships to students with financial needs. Center director Jose Armando Tavarez said that their goals now include attracting foreign students. As reported in Diario Libre, Tavarez said that they were going to sign an agreement with the Sistema de Integracion de Centro America y el Caribe within the next two months, and would be offering lodging and language courses for foreign students.
