Very basic room but clean and good size. Hot water, color TV with cable, 24H electricity, maid service daily, very good resto and bar, friendly staff and absolutely no hassles.

Yes but no ac. The best thing is the inverter. You always have electricity, 24H/365days.

I've stayed there 3 times, for me it's all good. I like the resto too. Breakfast there everyday.

Another budget place not far

I've been there 1 time and it's very nice.

Blast from the past...

Very cheap alternative for the monger on a budget...this spot would be cool during the Oct-Feb months when the weather is cool. However during the Notoriously HOT months especially June-August. I wouldnt recommend this place as there is NO AC. Only ceiling fan.

But Rockys hotel always has Hot water and 24hr electricity from what ive been told.

In a place that hits 100 degrees, I require a swimming pool.

I have stayed there a number of times...it's great and central...mere steps from the action..during the day a lot of the chicas appear, to use the internet to talk to their friends and novias......also great food...

I think the rate now is $25 per day.....recommended place IMO..free internet is included for your laptop, and free airport pickup....Milka picked me up my last trip...:D

Usually now when I go I like to use Rocky's condos at the Tradewinds....a little out of the way but nice...he now has in room safes in the condos...

Plus Rocky/Marco is a great standup guy, always treated me very well.........

Unless the rooms all have identical layouts, these pictures you have are very likely pictures of the exact room I stayed in, when I was there in the middle of July this year. I agree with your assessment of this place, but I paid $25US, not $18, per night during the four nights I was there (maybe that is because the exchange rate is different now?) However, as others have pointed out here, and as I have in the trip report I am in the process of completing, it is DAMN hot in there in the summer. The ceiling fan is of little use, as there is precious little ventilation in the room, unless you open the front door, and then the dogs might come in, LOL. For those on a budget and don't need AC, and/or those traveling in the cooler months, this is a great place. I liked the other things there - the bar and the food, and the computers (they have several, and I always could get internet access whenever I wanted it). I used this place as my pad for banging chicas, as I was staying in the Hotel El Colibri, which I thought was not chica friendly. However, as it turned out, I only had trouble getting a chica into the El Colibri on one occasion, and so I ended up paying for four nights at Rocky's although I only had to use it once.

I posted that review in 2005. The price is now $25 a night, still including airport pick-up.

There is now AC in one of the room and the TVs were upgraded.

Still my favorite place to stay in Sosua. If you're an independant traveler and don't need/like pools and AC, it's a great place.

Last thing, do reserve in advance, the place is usually always packed.

I can't see myself waste my time around an hotel pool when there is a great tropical beach 5 minutes away.

And also, I don't like the stuff they put in pool.

Last July, maximus and I hit the NG pool 3-4 times a day. I live in the pool.

Its a 12 minute walk during the day and a 20 peso moto ride at night. Not really out of the way.

U said that you are going back to Sosua, so, that means u have been there before. Where did u stay last time and why isnt it a good choice this time around.

Picking a hotel is hard. U have to weigh in many factors of your likes and dislikes

1/ cost
2/ U want a quite place or a rowdy get drunkfest place
3/Location
4/A/C or no A/C(weyland knows what i want lol)
5/Are u renting a car, if so, it doesnt really matter where u stay.
6/Do u need a pool?
7/ How modern do u want the place
8/ Reputation on good beds to sleep in
9/ Safe or fridge in the room
10/Chicas on premises

I could go on and on. If you want some help on choosing a place, it would be helpful to include some of the things u want in your hotel, starting with the most important one.

I like the Hotel Europa. $50.00/night for a room with kitchen, fridge, coffee pot w/ coffee, large bathroom and king sized bed.. People there are friendly, Pools great, chica friendly, free internet, and most important.. Close to La passions!! "Such a fine thing"!!
