As the JCE kept to the letter of the law, several radio stations were occupied by troops assigned to the Central Electoral Board for breaking the law. The law states that no radio station that is not under the control of the JCE can broadcast election results. Radio Z-101 in Santo Domingo, and 103.1 and 104.1 in Santiago were taken over by Indotel officials, as was Vida FM in Nagua. The Antena Latina television station was given a stern warning for transmitting statistics from the 2002 and 2004 elections. The magistrates felt that such a broadcast might confuse the electorate during the election process.
