News reports indicate that Mayor of Santo Domingo, Roberto Salcedo (PLD) leads with a comfortable margin, that attorney general Francisco Dominguez Brito (PLD) is likely to become senator for Santiago, and Enrique Sued (PRSC-PRD alliance) is likely to continue as mayor of Santiago. Likewise, present senator Hernani Salazar already admitted defeat to Agriculture Minister Amilcar Romero (PLD).

The 10:40 am Bulletin #3 (with 40% of the votes counted) from the Central Electoral Board (JCE) gives the PLD and allies a comfortable lead in the congressional election. Bulletin #3 shows the PLD and allies ahead in 23 provinces, while the Pink Alliance (PRD-PRSC) lead in eight - five PRD and three PRSC. The PLD and alliances was leading with 50% to 36% of its contender, the PRSC-PRD alliance. At the municipal level, the opposition continued its strong hold of city positions, but the PLD had advanced considerably. If the present trend is maintained, the PLD would become the majority party in the Congress, reversing its minority position in the previous two congressional elections.
