In the Coctelera column of Hoy newspaper, the writer explains the results. "Many here do not want to accept the changes that are occurring in the mindset of many Dominicans, especially young people, who do not let themselves be manipulated, as in the past," he writes. The author comments that the chaos that came with the pink alliance delaying in deciding who would stand as candidates affected the support that the alliance ended up receiving. The commentator says that many people decided not to vote for their party. He comments that the PLD benefited from those who voted against the PRD congressmen repeating in Congress and those who chose not to vote.

Political analysts Francisco Cueto and Pedro Catrain also commented for Hoy newspaper on the results. Cueto said that the preponderant role adopted by the PPH faction led by former President Hipolito Mejia hurt the alliance, that was weakened by the past government's stigma of incompetence and authoritarianism.

Political analyst Pedro Catrain says the defeat of the Pink Alliance means that the PRSC has failed, that Hipolito Mejia and the PPH are again defeated, and that the PLD may now control the Central Electoral Board, the Judicial Branch and the Chamber of Accounts, given that the Senate elects the members of these government bodies.

Of the 15 PRD Senators (running on the PRSC-PRD alliance), only five were able to retain their positions.
