Hey, guys, i've been taking allot of advice reading your post and i want to thank you all. It was very helpfull on my trip to Sosua last april. I'm planning my next trip for next fall, probably will go back to Cabarete, i was there once and liked it allot, maybe i'll have the chance of meeting some of you guys then, if you don't mind hanging with a frenchy:wink: .....

Welcome to ISOC.

Je suis anglais et tres vieux. I learned French at school fifty years ago but I am ashamed to say that I had never used it or practised it since. I cannot speak any Spanish and when I first visited the Dominican Republic last fall my best relationship was with a Haitian girl who spoke French. It was painful for me struggling to recall basic vocabulary which I had not used for fifty years but sex is a powerful motivator and it is amazing how much came back to me. On my second trip in March, same story. Best fun was with a French-speaking Haitian. I will be visiting the DR for eleven weeks in summer mainly to learn Spanish, but I still like those Haitian girls best. Of course many of them speak little or no French, only Creole.

I hope you will post some stories and pictures about your trips to the DR and that your next trip in the fall is a great success. I think we have some French speaking Canadian guys active here. Maybe you will meet up with them.
