Just curious if any bars are open in the evening along the beach. I get the impression it is dead at night. Anyone take a chica and drink a few and skinny dip under the stars? Or is it too dangerous to even think of hanging out at the beach at night. I hear Cabarette is completely different

Is Sosúa beach open in the evenings?

According to the Spanish-language webblog 'Sosúa online' the committee of the beach-vendors association (la Asociación de Vendedores de Figuras Artesanales en la playa Sosúa), via spokesperson Andrés Batista, has announced that the beach will now be open during the evenings. The chairman, who also owns a restaurant near the entrance from Charamicos, says that the beach now has sufficient lighting and that the tourist police agents (Politur) will guarantee the safety of tourists.
Your Sosúa-News journalist spoke to various owners of beach bars, and many were not enthusiastic about the plan. The power is often cut off between 7-10pm, which means that the beach seems darker, which might make tourists feel less safe. There is often no water for flushing the toilets and the washing up cannot be done.

Previous attempts to keep the beach open during the evenings have shown that there are not enough tourists visiting the beach to make these longer opening times worthwhile.

Ive read that some people want Sosua beach open at night. I would think it could be somewhat dangerous unless its properly lit up and the politur did some patrolling.

In the past the guy who runs #67 has mentioned he could stay open at night if I was ever interested in having dinner on the beach. At least his location wouldn't require walking too far along the beach if you enter from the main highway. Never took him up on it as theres plenty of stuff to do at night away from the beach. I like spending daytime on the beach when the sun is out and its still light outside myself.

The beachbars can have open as long as they have customers. I think we partied until around 10 pm at Scandinavian bar this sunday. Herman at Siempre sol also kept open pretty late that evening.

Not for me, at night I like the look of high heels clicking down the sidewalk.

I know - it was great when Louie was there. He would stay open very late as long as he had customers. He had his own generator so you had lights, music and cold beer.....I guess all good things must come to an end.
