The recession has not hit the DR yet, but it will. Probably in full force by next summer's tourist off-season. When it does we may find one or more new "Frank's" opening up as some slighter brighter and more self-motivated people who are currently holding down "straight" jobs are forced onto the game. Bad for them, good for us (those of us who still hold down jobs and can afford to visit the DR).

The downside is that the DR may become a more dangerous environment as people get more desperate. There are already frequent protest riots with deaths away from the tourist areas. (Everyone except Greydread and Hemp please refer to DR1). These may creep nearer gringo areas if the economy gets really bad.
