The United States Southern Command and the Dominican Armed Forces are working on a new medical mission in the province of Higuey with the participation of more than 40 military dentists and 20 paramedics, as reported by Clave Digital. The equipment arrived this Monday through Punta Cana International Airport and the military personnel are due to arrive next week and will establish themselves in Higuey and other communities in La Altagracia province. The announcement of this new mission comes one week after the withdrawal of US Southern Command troops that were stationed in Barahona, where they built several rural clinics and provided medical attention to the public. Rear Admiral Ernesto Miguel Valerio Rojas, Director of Dental Services of the Armed Forces, provided the information through the Ministry's Public Relations Office. Five dentists from the Dominican Armed Forces will join the group whose mission will last from 5 to 14 June.
