The Dominican Republic is mourning the loss of two personalities in totally different fields. Don Fausto Pimentel was the head of the PIMCO rice producing entity, perhaps the most modern rice mill in the Caribbean. His son, Fausto Ariel Pimentel heads the Banco Santa Cruz and is one of the major players in the currency exchange business. Don Fausto was notable for his business leadership qualities and his willingness to try new, more modern, techniques for processing rice. He was much respected among rice millers and rice farmers alike.
