Former Minister of Tourism and chief executive officer of luxury east coast development Cap Cana, Victor Cabral has won one of the largest severance payment suit cases in the DR so far. As reported in Hoy newspaper, Judge Federico Fernandez of the Labor Court of the National District declared the unilateral termination of the contract on behalf of the employer and declared the company financial responsible. The company will have to pay Victor Cabral severance for a period of 25 months with a monthly salary of US$23,958 and daily of US$1,005. The court establishes 28 days of "preaviso", notice prior to the termination of contract, or US$28,150, plus 42 days of "auxilio de cesantia", economic assistance on occasion of dismissal, totaling US$42,225 and proportion of Christmas bonus of US$18,387. In addition, the judgment requires the company to pay five additional days of wages for US$5,026 and the proportion of company benefits, at US$34,722, as well as establishing that the company needs to pay one day of wage per each day of arrear in the severance payment, or US$216,154. Hoy reports the total, at the time of the judgment, added up to US$344,667, or more than RD$11 million.
