Drug advisor to the Presidency, lawyer Marino Vinicio "Vincho" Castillo has complained that Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito is focusing on the military in the case of drug dealer Quirino Ernesto Paulino Castillo, and sidelining the involvement of Dominican politicians. He spoke up in reaction to comments by the Attorney General who expressed regret that several involved in the case have avoided jail.
"I am among those who believe that the infiltration of the military was only possible because of the political support that that man received at the highest level," he told the press. As reported in Diario Libre, Castillo emphasizes that the case is not political, but one related to money laundering. He said that Goico should have appeared in court during the libel case that former Mejia government public works engineering supervisor Hernani Salazar held against him in order to respond, among other things, to questions about the US$600 that he allegedly received in a paper bag for the purchase of a helicopter.
