Michelle Jimenez, the Dominican-born and trained dancer currently with the Washington Ballet, is to join the Dutch National Ballet in August. The Washingtonian magazine praises the dancer and tells of her decision to move to Europe. She sees it as a step ahead in her career, because the Dutch ballet company is larger than the Washington Ballet. Furthermore she describes it as more versatile, with works in classic, modern and contemporary dance. The 27-year old dancer has been with the Washington Ballet since 1999 when she left Santo Domingo after being discovered by a teacher from the Washington School of Ballet.
