The Metropolitan Transit Authority (AMET) has signed an agreement with Tricom, which will be installing a private communications network with national coverage, for the traffic officers to have a communications radio each while on duty. The information was provided by AMET Director General Jose Sigfredo Fernandez Fadul, as reported by Diario Libre. Tricom's Vice President of Engineering and Operations, Valeriano Valerio, stated that this network would contribute to facilitating the officers' work. The network will operate on the 400 megahertz band. Besides these radios, AMET officers will soon have another electronic device - a "veriphone" - which will allow them to report traffic violations without the need to confiscate drivers licenses.
