The Central Electoral Board's (JCE) Contention Chamber has reserved its ruling of 14 appeals against the results of the May 16 midterm elections. Diario Libre reports that all these recourses are for congressional positions, specifically senators. Today it will start studying appeals at the municipal level and for the Chamber of Deputies.
El Caribe reports that the 14 provinces where there has been an appeal against the elected Senator are Baoruco, Barahona, Elias Pina, Hato Mayor, Independencia, La Vega, Valverde, Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Pedernales, Samana, San Pedro de Macoris, San Juan de la Maguana, Santiago Rodriiguez and Peravia. The Contention Chamber is headed by Judge Salvador Ramos and made up of Judges Ramon Hernandez Dominguez, Luis Nelson Pantaleon Gonzalez, Jose Luis Tavarez Tavarez and Roberto Rosario.
