Yesterday, Papal Nuncio Timothy Broglio said that the Central Electoral Board (JCE) should be composed of impartial individuals who represent society and have no affiliation with specific parties. The working judges were chosen for their party affiliation. Papal Nuncio Broglio also favors a reduction in the number of judges as it would contribute to a fairer situation, although he specified that he is not questioning the current members work. According to a report by Diario Libre, Msgr. Broglio also favors a constitutional reform based on consensus and the common interests of all sectors of society. He would also like to see a shorter campaign period before elections and that those funds be used to benefit the public and improve the quality of life of the common people. The Nuncio spoke to the press after receiving a resolution for the park on Venezuela Avenue in Santo Domingo Este to be named after Pope John Paul II.
