SicPup started a perfectly nice thread re going fishin around Sosua - and Igot bored and threw in a bunch of Chica pics. Then Jimmy moved it to trip reports and all the fishing info went with it. So I'll recreate the info here: (and no chica pics)

hey has anyone gone fishing lately out of Sousa?

I took the fishing Excursion that Mel's Tours offers .It was out of Confersi out next to Ocean World. Was not worth the Money. It was basically a boat ride. The guys never let us so much as touch the poles and there was never so much as a nibble .they took us out for about 2 hours and bought us back.

How much did you pay for your trip? I was thinking of doing this also but was told that it was a waste of time.

The one by Sosua Beach is a waste also. The guy charged $175 and claimed the water was too choppy after 2 hrs. Said come back tomorrow and asked for another $175 if they wanted to go out again. Every trip since I see the guy and tell him hes not getting any fishing trips from me or anyone I know.

I've been told the best way to do it is find a local fishing boat that does it to earn his living and throw him a few pesos to get onboard. Hes definitely going to be trying to catch fish since its his livelyhood and some guaranteed pesos in his pocket before he leaves dock im sure would be welcomed.

I think we paid $65 a piece there was 3 of us the price included Rum and Beer the water was so rough there was not much drinking. That sounds like the way to go Beads.

Marco (Rockys) always says to go to Rio San Juan and just buy your way onto a local fishing boat. Been wanting to do that, but haven't yet. Rio San Juan is probably about an hour the other side of Cabarete.

But there are fish to be caught off Sosua. There are locals that go out in small motor boats.

I think Mel is a member of GreenPeace....No fish are harmed in the process. I have went out on the Mels Tour trip a few times over the years. Nada

I did have a Blue Marlin smack my bait once, jump out of the water, I heard it laugh at us, then it dove deep. Closest I ever came to catching a fish with Mel's.

Fishing in the Hudson is awesome. Those glowing fish are easy to spot even at night.

They have fish in the Hudson River (NYC)? Every week I read an article about the police fishing out another dead body.:eek:
