Hi to All,

I am not sure if this is the best place to post this but have a little tolerance as I am adhusting to the site and to the newly single life.

I think DR will be my NEW destination of choice based on all I have read and heard. My basic taste in a chica is long black hair with medium to light brown skin. I can speak basic Spanish but holding a conversation is not a easy task for me. I prefer the idea of a non-pro although I will only be making 3-4 day trips every 2-3 months.

Will be going to DR by April or May for my virgin tour and would love to ask some questions:

Is this a good or bad time of year to visit?

I was thinking SD or STI but I am not sure which is best for fun with the chicas.

If I am looking for non-pros to take out for dinner, drinks and some late night pleasures....where are the suggested places to find these women?

If I am looking for the pros, I think from the previous posts, I have seen a few names of places thrown out so I might be ok.

Is anybody else going to be there during these months that might be able to help me out to get a feel for the place?

Is it suggested to rent a car?

Is it suggested to get a local cell phone?

Any advice or suggestions would be most appreciated on my questions or ANY other issue that a NEWBIE should know about.

Thanks Guys and I hope that one day I might become a valuable contributor to the site and maybe even be able to help out a future newbie like myself.

Cheers,
Islandman

Ill just say one thing. If you are new to mongering, why do u search non pros and why go to some city where you will need more then just basic Spanish?

If u are planning on going once every 2 or 3 months, why not start your first trip in Sosua? U can practice your spanish, get to know how mongring works and even get to know what the chicas are like.

Then, u can branch out to citys like santiago and santo domingo and look for those non pros.

To me, it sounds like u are on the rebound and your looking for a quick fix to having a fulltime companion. Trust me, soon u will feel compfortable being alone and u may never ever want a fulltime companion again.

May is still nice, not real hot at nite yet. Any time of year is fine really.

If your not comfortable with your spanish, go to Sosua.

Non-pros are hard to fine, but you can run into a semi-pro in Sosua once in awhile. If that's something your really interested in, try the banks, real estate offices...
This will depend on your age. If your an old fart, they won't be that interested. If your a young stud and you give the impression your looking for a wife you have a chance. However, if they find out your lying you might get a broken Presidente bottle in the eye. It's not worth it.

Go to Sosua and get your sea legs. You won't need a car if you stay somewhere in town, and you really don't want to be driving down there till you learn all the pros & cons (mostly cons). Just watch some youtube videos of the aftermath of car accidents in the DR. Or sit at a busy intersection and watch how they operate. Def don't rent a motorbike. Unless you have a death-wish.

Sosua has everything...beach, casinos, resturants, discos, car washes, fat chicas, skinny chicas, pregnant chicas, chicas that aren't chicas, etc etc

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies so far......As I said, I am new to this and I assumed the bigger cities were the places to go, thus SD and STI.

I am not that old...(at least I hope not) 37 years old and I look decent.

Spanish - basic as I said. Hablo espanol poquito pero entiendo mas.

I have no doubt that I might end up preferring to be single for the rest of my life but it is nice to have a warm bed to get into at night. Maybe I can satisfy both needs in DR... jaja

I will be following up on this post....Did I put it in the right place?

Also, any others going during these months?

Thanks Guys,
Islandman

You may want to start by going to Sosua. You dont really need to know spanish, and you will meet fellow hobbyist who will show you the ropes.

Definately read the reports on here. When I did my maiden trip 2 years ago, I read alot of reports and did alot of "homework".

By the time I got to Sosua (alone mind you) I felt like I knew the place.

Hope this helps.

Most guys here go to Sosua, so, asking if anyone is going to be in Santiago and/or Santo domingo 2 or 3 months from now is still a ways away, and a long shot you will get a response to. First read a few reports from citys like Sosua, Santiago, Santo Domingo and Boca Chica. After reading these threads, you may now realize where you really want to go on the Island.

Once you have figured that out, u can then book a trip or at least confirm some dates and then reask your question of who might be where u are going.

As for being in the right spot(your report) i think so:)

Is this a good or bad time of year to visit?
Any time of the year is good to visit, some people prefer heat and some cold. Depends on what type of person you are. Personally I tolerate heat well and prefer it hot & humid then cold & dry. It's a lot easier to cool off then to get warm. Think of it this way you come in from shoveling snow and you are still shivering 15 minutes later in your warm house. You come in from a hot summer day after cutting the grass and you feel INSTANT relief as soon as the A/C hits your face when you walk in.

I was thinking SD or STI but I am not sure which is best for fun with the chicas.
Based on your basic Spanish & age I would say Santiago. But you forgot to mention the most important aspect, Can you dance? Of course if you want the pros, Sosua is an option, while someone else mentioned non/semi-pros are around, they don't stay that way for long in Sosua! And it does depend on the time of the month sometimes too. (eg. They need rent money)

If I am looking for non-pros to take out for dinner, drinks and some late night pleasures....where are the suggested places to find these women?
A regular disco tipico. Not a disco as in the 70's, but what we would call a club in the US. Night Clubs in the DR are usually places reserved for the working girls to meet clients, though regular people do go there also. So tell the taxi driver "Disco Tipico" NOT "Night Club"!

If I am looking for the pros, I think from the previous posts, I have seen a few names of places thrown out so I might be ok.
See other posts, or just say Night Club instead.

Is it suggested to rent a car?
Unless you have driven in other countries with lax traffic laws, NO!

Is it suggested to get a local cell phone?
Yes absolutely, they are cheap, even if it's just used to call taxi's or hook up with others vacationing at the same time.
