The private and corporal who acted swiftly in the sensational Parmalat robbery case, and who were promoted to the ranks of corporal and sergeant for their efforts, have asked the National Police chief to issue them with new firearms, because their current weapons are in very poor condition. According to Hoy newspaper, policemen Wilman Cueva Cespedes and Kelvin Mateo Vargas made their request with the idea of being more effective in their efforts to stop crime in eastern Santo Domingo where they are stationed. Both members of the National Police visited police spokesman Colonel Nelson Rosario and asked him to help them in their efforts to be assigned new side arms "because there is not much they can do to carry out their responsibilities."
