First and foremost, I'd like to thank everyone on this board especially Cheeno for his guidance and research and curiousdude for his "john madden map." The info made my trip hassle free and made me feel as if I'd been to SD before. Thanks again.

This isn't my first trip abroad, I've been to the northcoast and Costa Rica so the game isn't a mystery just the playing field if you're in a new spot.
Flew in from Orlando on jetblue thru and direct flight and arrived in SD and 12:40 pm on the dot. Customs was a breeze but the duty free was close. I thought maybe this was a bad omen but hell, I'm on vacation so I rolled with the punches. Like a dumb ass I went straight threw the line but forgot to buy my tourist card so I had to go back, buy the card and go back through the line. When you get in the customs area its a small booth on the right. Breezed thru to make it to the outside of the airport and upon exiting I noticed that its like the soul train dance line with people standing on the sides on the left and right sides of the barricades waiting for there love ones as you walk down the middle. I got lots of cat calls waling threw. Who knew I'd have turn pussy down at the airport. Taxis have gone up to 40 dollars to the city. Everybody I went to was on the same shit so I sucked it up rode the Hotel Riazor. Get to hotel pay driver. When I check in I witness the oldest monger problem in the book; Guy wants girl upstairs but she forgets her cedula. The Riazor doesn't budge on this on. The only allow ONE guest up so if you like threesomes, the Riazor is not for you. Me and this guy actually hung for a few days before he left Thursday. I wont give his name for identity reasons but I'll refer to him as Paul. I paid 240 for 4 nights cash. I get my key, go upstairs and noticed the gave me a balcony room. I told them specifically I didn't want on because of what I read here and you guys were right; its the loudest most uncomfortable room ever. So I had to wait till the got my room ready and I got a room in the back of the hotel with little to no noise. Chilled in room to sleep off my stooper till the night. Ran into Paul down stairs and we decided to walk to the casinos for the hunt. Saw nothing but hustlers and the crooked jaragua cab crew. I told them why the fuck would you walk up to me and ask me for a taxi. If I was in distress from walking I would ask you. Back up. They got the message and didn't fuck with me the rest of my stay. We ran into a local domincan guy who Paul knows from his previous trips and he offered to take us to the Casa Teresa. I really didn't want to go based off of what
I read here but when in Rome.....Took taxi for 150 pesos the Casa. Get in and its nice inside but to much light for my taste. There is a mixture of Dominican and gringos all on the couches that are lined up on the mirror walls. We get rushed by 12 chicas. The other 12 are groping the other guest. The all line up me and Paul have the turn around so we can scope the goods and they do there best to impress. I pick the least flamboyant chick out the line up since that seems to be the best. She ask for a drink and I say water cause im not paying for a gringo whiskey. She agrees. I decide to take her. Its my first night and I need to get my rocks off. 2500 hundred for two hours. They were asking for 3500. So off we went and I left that pussy like Afghanistan, bombed out and depleted. She didn't hit me with the sick baby or poor mama story just down to business and was very gfe to my shock. All in all good fun for 2500 and a 4 dollar bottle of vodka from the mini bar.

Day Two I slept in late, checked up with job and made calls home. Went to cafeteria on corner of Avenida Pasteur and Avenida Independencia. I cant remember the name but it had decent food, Piccadilly style with a bakery. Went and caught a cab to GDP. I told the driver to take me to Arismendy motors which is next door. Went to second floor and rang bell. Went in and sat at the small bar and ordered a presidente. About 10 chicas came out. I was the only on there at the time. They all introduced themselves but were not pushy at all but chilled. My kind of place. I went a total of three time during my stay. One girl comes and does a topless, g string lap dance every time you go. I don't know how they choose but it was all good for me. I'm terrible with names but i got a tall chica, long black hair d size breast and off we went to the back room. Great session, BBBJ and GFE for 1500 pesos and two nuts. I am not one to usually comment on someone else's money but damn, we're in a recession and your paying 2500 for 2 hrs. For me that's a TLN plus a $500 RD tip (with a chica who is on par with this chick.) I can personally guarantee you that for $1,500 RD you can negotiate two pop-offs or 3 hrs. The rest of the trip was rather standard. Slept late, returned to GDP, threesome, then to the El Conde to meet up with a fellow ISOC member. We took a cab and went to the mall which I believe it is called the Mega Centro to hunt. It was kinda dead but its the middle of the week. I hung out a bit and had lunch at a decent place were you can pick your own steak. The action was dead so we left and went to hunt for a cab back to the el conde. We grap a couple of tall bohemias from a little local shop on the street which was the start of an all day drink-a-thon. Grabbed a taxi for 150 pesos and headed to the casino instead of the el conde. We go in and they had some hot waitresses on duty this shift. So we grab some numbers from various chicas and head back to the el conde. The hustler Dominican men were not as prevalent as I thought they would be, just the same guys trying to steer you to a girls bar or telling you they got girls. They same line is "just take care of me and Ill hook you up." Whatever. I dont need help or a leech. Fuck you. Its beginning to get around 8 pm and then all of a sudden the rain starts. Did I say rain? no a monsoon. You don't want to be in the el conde or on the streets for that matter when it rains. Poor drainage equals floods. So me and my wingman for the moment go to the the bar right at the entrance of the el conde to keep the bohemias coming in the monsoon. I again had to turn down pussy. Its everywhere to be had. Some was business, some was because some girls I believe just wanted to fuck so I just grabbed numbers since I had evening plans and was stuck on the other side of town. I had to move from my current location to get a cab to a pizzeria down the street. Of course my gringo ass had on white old school Adidas and had to walk in 2 to 3 foot puddles of water and I even fell in a dip in the road which was deeper. This evening was getting shitty. I knew the chicas we had lined up weren't coming out in this storm because it was getting worse. While at the corner I found out you have to call a taxi because no taxis run a route to the jaragua. Fortunatly a local called for us and we were on our way within 10 min. Get to the casino and check out propositions for the night. I was right. The chicas weren't coming out. So me and the wingman stayed and hunted and drank at the casino during the rain. About 12 am we leave and the streets are dead of course so we say fuck it and head to Lapus. About 15 chicas working so we sit and have a drink. I say a chica I wanted but this little cute spinner was feeling me. I was a different agressiveness. She said she liked black men plus I liked her attitude. So me and my wingman hung out and got lap dances from various chicas. Again Lapus would not have been my first choice but my plans feel through and this is what i had left plus I'm on vacation so its not that serious. The only thing she did to piss me off was to ask for shit out the mini bar and tried to hit me with the baby shit. Any compassion I may have had is left in the Trojan magnum I flushed awhile back. He was actually great guy but I was more concerned about the guys who sent me to the search line. The proceed to search my bag I I walk them threw it all. The bag with the magnums and strawberry lube, the personals bag, the iron I brought, my clothes, my ipod speakers. He says to me thank you for your patience, I know this is hard. I said loudly I don't have problem with the search, just as long as the people being searched don't all look like me. Low and behold. Everyone being searched were either Black or of Latin ancestry. I said, New president, same bullshit. There were people in line who were old enough to be my great grandparents. I was sad.

Word of advice...Take small carry on backpack or bag with all your electronics. Airport workers will steal your shit at DR airports. This is not the first time its happened to me, I was just on a hurry.

Not in any of the major Casas you won't. The salidas are pretty much set in stone in these joints and the only way to get the girls for cheaper is to wait until the Casa closes, and get them then. Otherwise, 2500RD for a couple of hours has become pretty standard in the major casas (GH, Lapsus, Casa Teresa, etc.).

Of course, the casas are only one mongering option. There is a ton of freelance toto walking around SD. And all of it can be had for less than you'll pay in the casas.

Yeah, the casas are getting more expensive. But in all fairness to the OP, he paid what is pretty much the going rate if you salida a Casa chica during regular operating hours.

That's why I just hang out until the Casa closes. Then you have your choice of chicas who are happy to accept 2000 for TLN.

I think that the thread you proposed would be an excellent idea and I don't want to jack the OP's thread with a long post.

But in short, I've been traveling to the DR for two to three times a year since 2002. I've been to SD/Boca Chica, Santiago, and POP/Sosua with a heavy emphasis on Santiago (I am in love with that city).

For the first three years I only went to SD and Sosua. But in '06 I made a career transition and ended up with 2 mos. off work between jobs. I decided to spend the time tightening up my spanish. I found a good, reputable, non-expensive immersion course in Santiago and spent the summer there with a buddy taking classes. Both of us fell in love with the place and my buddy rented an apartment there in Jan. of '07. Since he let me stay for free, I spent at least a week there every other month that year.

I learned a lot of spanish, a lot about the culture, met a lot of friends, and disabused myself of many of the notions and misconceptions that I had about Dominicans and their country by hanging out with "regular" Dominicans in a city that doesn't have much of a tourist industry. It's a different experience hanging out with locals that have absolutely no interest in your tourist dollars.

And I also learned that the Cibao region (Santiago, Moca, La Vega) has the hottest women in the entire country.

I'm so taken with the place that I plan on renting an apartment there myself next year.:mrgreen:

Unfortunately DR is known for Drug running and if you look like you could be dominican or haitian you are more likely to get searched. I have gotten searched but it has been rare. I would hope that was the reason as whenever I get back it is 90% dominicans getting searched.

Well, i am white and i been to the DR 6 times and the Philippines 2 times and i been searched close to half of these trips. I am Canadian thou, maybe that makes a difference, i dont know.

The first few times i got searched, i felt somewhat embarrased when they opened my stuff. Now i dont give a shit.

At least they take u to an area that is secluded from everyone else. Its more non embarrassing then having it done right in front of everyone.(like how they did it to me in Nagoya Japan on a connecting flight to the Philippines:(

Nice report. The $40 bucks for the taxi seems a bit steep. When my flight arrived, I picked up my luggage and walked up the escalators and out the door. I was able to haggle with a taxi driver who just dropped off a customer. He accepted $25 bucks but didn't look thrilled. I ended up tipping $5. I used the same guy when I returned to the airport for the same deal. I'll use him again. Let me know if they can be bargained for lower.

It was so bad that they caused me to miss my flight, and I had to wait for 3 more flights to get out of there because I was with a friend and wanted to make sure we both got back to NY. Luckily there was a flight every hour or so.

Luckily there was a flight every hour or so.My problem is i keep getting stopped by the corrupt Policia when driving my little rental clown car on the main highway (kennedy) through town. It is what it is. I hate the fact that I have to look out for things like this but its life. I think people have the tendency to throw the word racist around for any little thing that can be perceived as such. In this case with my trip I think it is a case of ignorance more than anything....
