After thirteen days in La Victoria jail, former colonel Pedro Julio "Pepe" Goico Guerrero has been freed on bail. His bail had been set at RD$10 million and the family had to find insurers willing to part with the RD$700,000 needed to get Pepe out of the hoosegow. Goico Guerrero received the bail decree from the First Penal Chamber of the Appeals Court for the National District. The decree reversed the remand ordered by judge Jose Alejandro Vargas. The former army officer is denying all money laundering charges against him.
