Or let a Dominican make a reservation call for you, under a Dominican name

It was $59 plus tax.

You can get a resident rate of 59 dollars a nite +26% with a cedular on weekends ONLY. Rack rate is more than 99 bux.

On that note as a regular to Santo Domingo the Courtyard by Marriott is way nicer with the same deal and both places are chica friendly. Both are part of the Marriott chain. Call up reservations 685-1010 for the Courtyard S.D. and 612-7000 for Santiago Courtyard but remember it is only for the weekends and you loose the one breakfast that comes with the regular rate.

I was at the jaragua last night. Last stop of the night. Took the novia to La Bricciola for dinner. Great place, very nice ambience, cuban band playing live music, but the portions are very small. . . . .left hungry.

We walked over to Pat De Palo and I ordered ribs to make up for being hungry. Good ribs nice ambience and live band playing in Plaza Espana.

Then we took a taxi to the Jaragua and watched the live merengue group for an hour or so. There were a lot of chicas on the prowl. Better looking than in the past I think.

I may have to get a cedula just to get good rates at the jaragua etc. . . .

Sure, let us know how to do it. It looks lot of guards in the garden too

I've had chica go to the room ahead of me and the guard didn;t even challenge them. Guess I got lucky to not pick a regular the the guard recongized. The guards, especially the ones outside the garden room recognizes the regulars. You could even give a chica a key that they can show the guard to get past. BUT, if you walk with them to the room, there is more chances of getting rejected.

I stayed at the Hilton during my most recent trip. $105 plus tax per night.

The hotel is guest friendly and you pay nothing to bring a girl to your room. She just needs to show her I.D. and sign her name and write down her cell phone number.

But you can only bring one girl to your room. You cannot bring more than one girl at a time.

Has anything changed for October? They seem to change their policy fairly regularly...My last time there...I guess around July, my friends had problems bringing Chicas up to their rooms in the tower (main building) They wound up giving the elevator guard a pretty hefty propina, then had no problems the rest of the stay.. I stayed in the Garden rooms, gave a made-up girl's name at check-in, and had no problems bringing them in. During the day, there isnt even a guard outside the garden rooms. When there was, I just said this is my Novia, Maria...the guard checked his list and let us in...

I have never stayed at the Jaragua before. But during my trip last week, my Dominican friend told me that the Jaragua is still NOT chica-friendly.

Why not stay at the Hilton? It is only a 10-minute walk from the Jaragua Hotel. The Hilton is only a year-old, and is chica-friendly with no guest-fee.

I do not know about the rates at the Jaragua. But you can get a very nice one-bed with ocean view for $105 plus tax. You might be able to get a cheaper rate since the tourism business is slow now.

I tried the hilton.com website earlier and just verified again... the lowest priced room they're quoting is $165 night + tax! for next week...total "off-season"...

Really?!? Wow. I think it would be best if you called the receptionist and ask them that you know someone who paid only $105 plus tax around a month ago.

Its still "off-season".

Hotels.com might be another option.

thanks Cheeno, I tried a few of the hotel sites and am still getting $140 as the best rate... seems to go down quite a bit in November...maybe there's some kind of holiday or convention that weekend...?

Sorry but I am not sure if there is some kind of a holiday or convention that weekend.

If I were you, I would either call the front desk or try calling hotels.com

Good luck.

Anyone stayed here lately? Has anyone noticed online prices for the Jaragua garden rooms are more expensive than the deluxe tower rooms. Seems they are charging for the ease to getting a chica to your room.
