Plaza de la Salud has opened its new Cardiac Catheterization Unit, providing advanced cardiac diagnostic exams and treatments. In the past, affluent Dominicans used to travel abroad, but services for low and high-risk patients are now available locally. Dr. Julio Amado Castanos, president of the health center's board of trustees, said that the new unit is equipped with the most advanced technology, offering invasive studies such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty and stenting to correct coronary artery obstruction, insertion of pacemakers, treatment of cerebro-vascular diseases, and other heart-related illnesses. The services are open to adults and children.
