The Dominican Republic is bidding to become a member of the Caribbean Development Bank. Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso told reporters from all the local papers that the Ministry of Foreign Relations was doing everything it could to obtain admission "as soon as possible." Morales said that the Dominican Republic expects to receive backing from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) nations. The Dominican Republic submitted its request to enter the regional bank at the last CARICOM Governor's Assembly.
