Government officials, members of the business community and representatives of different local institutions met yesterday in Santiago to hear about the National Plan for Systemic Competitiveness presented by the National Council of Competitiveness in an effort to promote development strategies within the region. The National Plan was presented by Andres Vanderhorst, Jr., currently the executive director for the Plan. The event, which took place in the health science auditorium at the PUCMM in Santiago, also included Rene Villareal from Mexico's Institute of Systemic Competitiveness and members of the Dominican Republic Center for Investment (DR-CEI). Mauricio Hache, the president of the Association of Industrialists - Northern Region (AIREN), hosted the meeting along with Felix Garcia, the head of the Santiago Development Association.
As part of the plan, Villareal and his team are traveling all around the country to meet with cluster representatives and community spokespeople to listen firsthand to their vision and agendas.
