The company 'Ola Te Guía' has also launched a GPS navigation system for the Dominican Republic, so that you need never get lost again. We haven't had the chance to try out the system yet in practice, so we'll have to wait and see how users describe their experience with this system. You can type in your destination into your Navicon-Nuvi 200, BlackBerry, Nokia or HTC phone and (according to the manufacturers) you'll be directed straight to your destination.

I was reading that.I was wondering how it is going to work.Is it just going to have cities listed and points of Interests, Businesses and waypoints.I don't see you be able to find many homes on it .

The Garmin GPS units are for sale in Ferreteria Americana on Kennedy. I didn't ask the price. For a tourist, it's good for navigating the major avenues and streets, but that's about it.

For those of us who live here, I think it will be another year or so before it offers any benefit.
