The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) concluded the first day of its four-day strike yesterday and doctors have vowed to continue their push for higher wages. However, their decision to continue with strikes has provoked severe criticism from the Ministry of Public Health. Commenting on the international concerns about swine flu, Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez described the decision as irresponsible. But doctors said that in the case of an outbreak of swine flu, they would call off their strike and help treat patients.
