"Chino" is the Dominican nickname for almost anyone from East Asia. In this case, as reported by Diario Libre there are 500 Chinese nationals missing. These people came from the People's Republic of China on tourist visas eight months ago and have yet to leave the country. The local immigration authorities think that they are part of a ring organized by local Asian businessmen who move these people to the United States through Puerto Rico. Local authorities say that they are close to finding out just what is happening to these missing "Chinos".
