Heres more info, this again may be old news but its always worth a second look
Infiniti Blu was erroneously mentioned before in this article, but has nothing to do with it. We've been alerted by readers who've indicated that a real-estate company is already offering apartments and bungalows in La Piedra

(Charamicos).
This suburb has not yet been demolished and the current residents have not yet been allocated new housing. The residents of La Piedra are also not planning to be fobbed off with tiny new apartments in the same way that people from El Tablón were treated.

The yacht marina
Charamicos

So, for the time being, these new construction plans will not be realised.
Drawings show the entire Charamicos area as rebuilt, and includes large hotels, apartment buildings and bungalows. The yacht marina at the mouth of the River Sosúa is also included in the plans.
It looks as though the elephant's hide is being sold before the elephant has even been hunted, let alone killed

This definitely bears watching. As I have said in other threads about real estate on the northcoast, from what I have been hearing for years, they have big plans for vast parts on the northcoast besides Puerta Plata, Charamicos, also that vast area between Sosua and Cabarete. Eventually the northcoast will be the absolute jewel of D.R. These are the first proposed plans I have seen however. Although I did see some plans a while back for the proposed port in Puerta Plata, which has seemed to stall, since then.

This has been going on for many decades. Now that Mexico is a mess, maybe they can do it.

Leonel has always taken a special interest in the North Coast.

I hope Muñoz will be left unspoilt as the rustic paradise it is.

I may be repeating myself, but this could happen if the right foreign developer came along with deep pockets. They would bring in their own equipment and manpower. It would be built in phases and done right. And they would know how to make things happen, lining the right palms, building a new police station, new police cars, new city hall, etc....

On the other hand, I will be surprised if it does.

But who will buy the units? You can build it, but if you can't fill it, its a waste.

It will happen. But not in my lifetime. Say 20/25 years?

it only works if those plans are in private hands , like the beautiful marina and concept in Ocean World , Puerto Plata..there are obviously investors from Great Britain and Russia, of course..

Sosua beach if friggin' DEAD.

At night Clisante is still packed like a mutha, but i was at the beach everyday and it was lifeless.

Personally it didn't bother me all that much cuz me and my buddies brought our own "sand", but still, i remember when there were tons of tourists and locals there all the time.

I don't know if getting rid of those (mostly useless) stalls is the answer but it wouldn't hurt to spruce the place up a bit. Just seems like a complete waste.
