Amenities around Aparta Hotel Roma?

I'm in the Roma now, came down for a week, and the novia won't be here until tomorrow afternoon. Probably some other guy keeping her busy. Anyway, I was hoping that since the Roma got so many good reviews, someone would know about good restaraunts, massage parlors, etc. in the immediate area. Is there a LaPassions type joint around here? I love that place. Sure would enjoy a good soapie right now.

The Mercure hotel has great lunch specials everyday and is located around the corner on Hostos and the Conde. Also on Hostos located just across from the main entrance of the Mercure Louies Diner (has brown doors). The place is owned by a man from NY and his family works there so they speak english and the food is great!. As for Breakfast I go to Pacos located at the top of the Conde on the left hand side (Green Awning) just before you cross the street to Count's gate (Where Sanchez, Mella, and Duarte) are entombed. As far as ammenities depends what you are looking for, a couple of clubs on the Malecon, a few blocks from you, Foxy's and Baby Dolls, Foxy's is expensive for the girls for a couple of hrs. but nice quality. IMO Baby Dolls not as expensive, and girls not same caliber as Foxy's. I only name these two because they aren't far from where you are located, definite walking distance. If you hang on the Conde, you can get female company a lot less, from some of the girls on the conde, in most cases just have to make eye contact then rap a little. Also if you sit at Paco's someone will approach at some point (girls there day and night), also often if you sit in Colon Park opposite side of Conde from Pacos often you will be approached. If you want a definite point and click, take a walk around Parque Independencia, across from Pacos, a few working girls walking around after about 9 or 10 pm, reasonable priced can get for 1,000 pesos although they will probably start at about 2,000.

Too many beauties around to notice the heat. I ran the AC for an hour to cut the pent-up heat, just wlked back in after a few hours walking about and it's not bad at all. I got ripped off by a tout, nothing big, 500 pesos worth of cab rides I paid for twice, but that's ok, I know his spot on the conde. He will at least have to weather some unpleasant conversation.

Listen go to the corner and ask shorty (he sells souvenirs) for a cab he'll hook you up and then offer the driver 3/4 of what he is asking that should be iight. You can also rent shorties scooter for the day cheap. Shorty is a good dude I also will have a cab number for you tomm the number is in my other bag in the trunk of my car this guy is a cop and gives the best prices.

There is a very small beach on the Malecon, that very few people use, I have only on the rare occasion seen a few Dominicans there. I believe it is considered somewhat dangerous because of it's location to the Caribbean Sea, strong riptides and the like. But it is somewhat picturesque, but I have never seen any chicas there, and why go to the beach if there aren't chicas there??

Yeah I have never went to the local little beach, just took pictures of it from the Malecon; gone to Boca a few times even have taken the local guagua there only cost something like 40 pesos each way. You can take the express, from their parada not far from the Colonial Zone, and it goes basically straight there, not to many stops; will be there in like 20 minutes.

That is definitely one thing I do miss about Sosua, I love that beach, and I used to walk there at least 3 or 4 times a week.

I ran into the tout (that ripped me off the other night) on the Conde this evening. He tried to yell at me that he gave my money to the puta. Naturally, as this was said in front of my novia, it was designed to shut me up. It did cause me an uncomfortable conversation a half hour later. It also caused him to be backed against the nearest wall with 260 pounds of Dave in his chest. In any event, I promised him I'd spread the word around about how he treated me, even after having bought him dinner and beer.

So keep an eye out, he is about 5'2", kind of chunky, curly not quite black hair, medium brown skin. Calls himself Mike, and likes to tell gringos he lived in NYC, but they ship illegals back home quick. On the Conde every day, usually in front of a bar I think is called La Fortuna, if anyone sees him, tell him Dave says Hi.

As it has been said many times before, your best bet is to stay away from the touts, they are bad news, they are not interested in providing a service all they want is to get in your pocket for doing nothing. Best to read the info on this site.

There are legitimate tour guides, they are certified dressed neatly in shirts, ties and khaki pants. Normally light blue shirts, I believe and have identifications hanging around their necks they are cool, and can provide you with info if you want, but their real job is to tour guide some of the historical sites in the colonial zone.

Touts are a total waste.

Then my Novia decided to show up a day late and gave me a window. Rookie mistake, ALWAYS assume some mongering time will arise, ALWAYS check before going into a city for the first time. Naw it's not a rookie mistake, because when you first see the asshole, you are looking for someone that speaks your native tongue, and then he pops up, acting knowledgeable, and interested in helping you out. When in reality he is only interested in helping himself out. Dealing with people like him is an unfortunate part of the scene. The good thing is you only have to catch his game once to know what he and others like him are about. I think of it somewhat as a necessary evil or part of the education of being a monger.

By the bye, Sirena of Black Beards is back on the market (like I have any proof she was actually off the market). If any one is interested I have her cell number. She looks as good as ever, actually just bought her new extensions. One warning - she is not suitable novia material. Once you bought her, every thing you do convinces her you're "cheating".
