Catching a cab inside PD it might be upwards of US$50.

Catching a conch or guagua outside the gates of PD it will be RD$20-50. A private cab might run RD$200-300.

Yes, walk out the gate and catch a public taxi for under a $1 or take a taxi to the gate for about $3.

Ever drive into Playa Dorado? It's like driving back to the US! :(

Everything is organized, clean, and the roads are paved. BORING!!!

I am just guessing at the prices but I doubt there are regular taxis there and just tourist taxis.

Only Tourist taxis are there and they have those big grins on their faces.

I made this trip a few time last trip.

I paid 800 pesos for 3 hours in sosua.
This is around $27US.
Never pay the outrageous listed prices they show you.
If they don't want to make money, just walk outside of the complex and get a public taxi.
It's best to hire them to stay with you.
If you tried to pay for 2 one way fares, it would probably be even more than a good flat rate.

I would pay 600 for 3 hours in Puerto Plata.

I usually buy them a beer or 2 as well and they are all anxious to see me again.

I often use the same driver several times and get even better deals for many hours at night.
