This was posted on the DR1 forum this morning. It's a (believe it or not, but YES) a GOOGLE map of Santo Domingo.

And yes, it has certain "strategic" locations pinpointed, so you can see where they are..

It still has a ways to go, but it's a nice start. Let's just hope that the powers that be don't use it to identify which places they're going to target next..

Some obvious mistakes like having Mansion out near airport. The location he gives for mansion is closer to where Pacos is near the elevado for the airport etc.

It was created by someone on one of the other sites. He has been updating it as he has gotten new or better information from its members. It is a very nice map.

I posted a map years back before google maps was a reality. I hand drew the fucker and had all the Gazcue spots on it etc. A gringo tour guide took offense to that and other info I posted such as the fact that he was lying when he said any commission he got for taking you to a casa came out of the girls cut. He posted BS pricing for spa michelle and some other spots so I posted a link to newspaper ads quoting the real prices.

he made some thinly veiled threats about knowing who I was and how I better look over my shoulder when walking around Gazcue. .. . .lol. . . .I was SOOOOOOOO scared . . .I moved to Gazcue;-)

Yeah saw that on DR 1 and as predicted no good is going to come of it, don't know what that guy was thinking of. Just the sort of thing this hobby needs, with all those hypocrites over there. Hopefully they will spew their piss and vinegar and forget about it and let it die a quick death.

Yeah there are a few errors with the map, but at least he put the work in and did it. Right now it is the only one we got out there of the area, minor mistakes and all and I feel the guy should be commended for taking the time and putting in the effort that it took.

I also believe he asked anyone that knew of mistakes to point them out and he would make the corrections. I don't know what more he could have done.

I love it! Too bad this didn't come out earlier this year.
We need to do something similar and post it here on ISOC. It doesn't have to be confined to one area but throughout the country.
