Danilo Medina and First Lady Margarita Cedeno are head to head in voters' preference for the PLD candidacy in the 2012 presidential election with 26.1% and 26% respectively, according to a Gallup-Hoy poll.
In the PRD, the top rated candidate is Miguel Vargas Maldonado with 67% support, compared to former President Hipolito Mejia who has 6.4%.
When identifying voters who are loyal to the PLD, the poll found that 38% prefer Margarita Cedeno, compared to 20% for Medina. Environment Minister Jaime David Fernandez is a distant 6.9%
In the PRSC, the favorite candidate is Amable Aristy Castro with 45%, followed by Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso with 15%.
The nationwide poll was held from 8-12 July, and 1,200 men and women aged 18 years or over were polled. It has a margin of error of 2.8%.
