As a punishment for the 835 high school students who were caught cheating in this year's national tests, the National Education Council has ordered them to retake the tests at the first session next year. The results of this year's tests will be expunged from their records.
The punishment also requires the students to redo their social service hours.
The Council has appointed a special commission to investigate and determine the responsibility of ministry personnel, officials and teachers who might have been involved in the cheating.
At the same time, the Council recognized the civic attitude taken by more than 300,000 primary and secondary school students as well as the educational personnel who took part in the process.
According to the Ministry of Education, 217 students of Spanish Language and 618 in Mathematics gave the same answers that were found in cell phones seized from the students who committed the fraud. The students involved will also be kept from attending university for a year.
