The strike that began last Tuesday in the town of Bonao in demand for improved electricity services and other social concerns, including the completion of the UASD university extension and street repairs will be lifted at 6am today in order to give a short pause for the government authorities to respond to the public demands.
Yesterday several searches were carried out against the popular leaders Rafael Jimenez, Pablo Abad and others in order to investigate them for the death of young Gregorio Manuel Hernandez Pena and the wounds suffered by journalists Arquimedes Luna and Reinaldo Sanchez during the protests.
