As reported in the Sosua News:

June 18, 2006

Shark Bar moves to Sosúa's main street

We've written articles before about a couple of ex-policemen from New York who opened a beach bar, two years ago, along Sosúa's main beach. The 'New York Shark Bar' quickly became a standard fixture among English-speaking visitors to Sosúa - partly because they could order beer and other drinks that were imported from the USA, and partly because the atmosphere was just like home, where everyone speaks English and they play American music.

But the ex-inspectors, including Louis, found it difficult to be stuck on the beach all day. If they had friends visiting then they couldn't show them around this beautiful country. So they found a solution. The bought a place on Sosúa's main street (Calle Pedro Clisante) and turned it into a delightful open-air bar. Now they only work during the evenings, and have all day to spend time with their visitors from New York. Lots of their police colleagues enjoy taking trips to see the sights in the Dominican Republic.

The completely new 'New York Shark Bar' in the Pedro Clisante has a modern design with lots of shiny chrome. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, and the prices are affordable. Visitors from the Netherlands and Belgium have also made this their 'local' pub. This is partly due to the friendly character of the jovial barkeeper, Louis, our ex-catcher of bad guys in New York.
