[DR1] Reform will include national consultations

President Leonel Fernandez has stated that his intention to reform the constitution will necessarily include consultations with people's assemblies, which he considers more democratic than a Constitutional Convention or a National Assembly to Review the Constitution. The President said that technicians would begin to arrive from Argentina, Spain, Colombia and Venezuela next month to advise the team of Dominican jurists who will work on the process of modifying the Constitution. Fernandez said "this is a call to all members of society, through all community-based institutions, to heed the call to look at the proposals that will be submitted."
